Barbershop Quartets: What is a “Barbershop Quartet”? A “Barbershop” quartet is four part harmony sung by four (or more) unaccompanied voices. The melody is usually sung It became all the rage in no time with its first issue featuring the LEAD. The TENOR sings harmonizing notes above the lead while the BASS sings harmony below the lead.
